welcome to greyhoundstyle.

OK, for just a second I'm going to pretend that I'm not blogging in a complete vacuum.

Hi. I'm Alix, and this is my dorky running blog, so named because, well, greyhounds run, right? I guess the correct answer to that is actually "in theory". Greyhounds are pretty awesome runners, but the fact of the matter is that 90% of the time, you'd be hard-pressed to find them vertical. I happen to share my life (and my couch, bed, floor, etc etc) with an exceptionally lazy specimen. His name is Nino, he's 6 1/2, and he weighs 80ish pounds, although he doesn't really look it. Witness him to the left, mesmerizing his prey squeaky toys with alien laserbeam eyes.

Anyway, suffice it to say that Nino isn't my running buddy. I have to deal with that one alone. I guess you could call this blog an attempt to document the battle to keep my inner greyhound off the couch.

I just moved to Austin to start graduate school, and Austin is a great running town. I've been spending a lot of time so far on the Barton Creek Greenbelt, and let me just say, trail running is damn hard. I've rolled my ankles and stumbled embarassingly frequently, often behind much more adept-looking trail runners who glance backwards in surprise, perhaps expecting a small rockslide. I'm gearing up to start training for my first marathon, the 2007 Austin Marathon, so I've started this as a dumping ground for all the running neuroses I can't inflict on anyone else.
